We no longer watch the football here in the shed (any football, as the commies have to come from somewhere and that place is the NCAA game). In fact we’ve been #BoycottNFL since 2012 when the league locked out the real referees, and we damn sure were not returning after the kneeling and other anthem / flag disrespect which began in the final exhibition game of 2016 on September 1 when Colin Kaepernick (28-30 career record, 3-16 in his last two seasons) introduced communism into the game. But that doesn’t mean we don’t see headlines and have opinions.
Which brings us to the football-deflating, cellphone-destroying, pants-ripping, Trump-friendship-denying, QB G.O.A.T. Tom Brady who has once again gotten away with something.
This began with the most recent season ending with the Super Bowl on January 9, 2022, and Brady retiring on February 1, 2022 (with one year left on his contract). He then shocked the world March 13, 2022, by unretiring. Why did that all happen, and so quickly?
Between the fauxtirement and return Tom was very busy. Rumor is that he had worked out a secret deal with the Miami Dolphins and their owner Stephen Ross (net worth of $8.4 BILLION per Forbes) to unretire with Miami and also take a minority ownership position. In addition on January 16, 2022, Sean Payton retired as Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints (with 3 years left on his contract). Miami was also going to try to work out a ‘trade’ with the Saints for the remainder of Payton’s contract and replace Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians with him.
Also Brady and Arians deny it but they allegedly had a falling out and that may have been the cause of Brady’s sudden retirement and wormy plan to escape to Miami. Bruce may be changing his tune though, as on June 11, 2022, he said “Had Tom not come back, I probably would still be coaching.”
All of those moves would have effectively screwed the Buccaneers AND Saints (to a lesser degree, pending compensation from Dolphins for Sean’s services), who each would have lost someone to a fake retirement simply so they could go somewhere else for more money.
The Dolphins are now paying for it by losing 2 draft picks (2023 1st round and 2024 3rd round)_and their owner was fined $1.5 million (AKA pocket change) and suspended (whatever that means in the NFL).
The 6-month NFL investigation showed contact with Brady by the Dolphins before he joined Tampa Bay then again during the 2021 season and once again when it was over (January 9, 2022), and Miami privately acknowledged the minority ownership discussions took place. There were also rumors of Tom wanting to go to the 49ers, who he grew up in California rooting for but that option fizzled quickly as they have former #3 draft pick Trey Lance in place).
None of this would have come out if not for the lawsuit former Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores filed, by coincidence or not, the exact day Brady fauxtired which caused the plans to all unravel.
Now Brady will NOT be punished. At all. For some fucking reason. And I suspect Sean Payton also will not be, but nobody really cares about him. With the selective punishment taking place the allegedlies also all appear to have been true. The mystery that remains is why all parties were not punished.
